Mother's Day - Polynesian Style

To celebrate Mother's Day, the men in Auckland 1st &  2nd Ward put on a lovely dinner and evening of fun for all the mothers

There was a DJ to play music and plenty of DANCING!

But best of all was simply the opportunity for these wonderful sisters from many different cultures to gather together in friendship and love.   The ward we are in now has members from Samoa, Tonga, Niue, Cook Islands and some who grew up right here in New Zealand.  But no matter what their background or heritage, they display more unity and love for each other than I think I've ever seen in any place I've ever been.   It reminds me of the passage in the Book of Mormon in 4 Nephi 1:15-17  that says:

15 And it came to pass that there was no contention in the land, because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people.
16 And there were no envyings, nor strifes, nor tumults, nor whoredoms, nor lyings, nor murders, nor any manner of lasciviousness; and surely there could not be a happierpeople among all the people who had been created by the hand of God.
17 There were no robbers, nor murderers, neither were there Lamanites, nor any manner of -ites; but they were in one, the children of Christ, and heirs to the kingdom of God.

Truly, there are some great women in this congregation.  I look forward to getting to know them better.
